Rizi on Prop 8 Ruling
Aug 4, 2010

Prop 8 was struck down in court today as being unconstitutional. I believe it was the right judgement and I am hopeful that full LGBT equality will be attained here in the USA and also throughout the world. Meanwhile, as our community celebrates this victory, we must acknowledge that the battle is far from over with prop 8. This is only step one and we must continue to pray as the issue moves on up to the supreme court. My personal prayer is that equality and love win over hatred, bigotry and inequality in the end.....

With much love,

Rizi

Rizi's Full take on Prop 8 & similar measures
Dec 1, 2008

Hi there. Let me start by saying that, on a personal level, I believe that it is tragic that prop H8 passed in California. As a gay christian (learn more on how I was able to reconcile my faith with my sexuality by watching me on the "Rizi's Bio & Video" link), I know that God loves us Just as He Created Us and wants EQUALITY FOR ALL!! I know that Our Opponents and those who supported and passed prop H8 did so based on biblical misinterpretation, ignorance to what the bible actually says about us and/or pure bigotry, and in so doing, they failed to reflect the love of Jesus for All. When they voted our FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHTS away, our NEIGHBORS sadly failed to observe the 2nd greatest commandment from Jesus which is to love your neighbor as yourself ( Matthew 22:37-40 and Leviticus 19:18). We are their neighbors and true Christianity demands that they love us enough to treat us as equals. We as a nation do not believe in second-class citizenship and all those who voted yes on h8 should remember that "Separate, but Equal" is NOT EQUAL. It wasn't right when we treated women as less than men. It wasn't right when we treated black people as less than whites and it is not right to treat gay and lesbian people as less than straight people. We fought a strong fight with our No on 8 Campaign in California but we lost and one of the reasons for that is that while we had the human rights angle covered, we did not have the religious angle covered. Our greatest opposition is from religious fundamentalist who use biblical misinterpretation to condemn us, and it is going to take the voices of religious gay Christians who know what the bible really says & doesn't say about homosexuality to speak out on it and add the religious part to our human/civil rights battle for us to win our victory, not just in California, but nationwide & across the world. As author Jack Rogers puts it " I acknowledge that controversy on the subject of homosexuality may continue for some time. My earnest hope is that, as with conflicts over race, women, and divorce, the church will finally admit all of its members to the full rights of membership and discover in doing so that we all will benefit and the church will be healed (J.Rogers 2005). By supporting this ministry and making a CD purchase, you are allowing The Gospel Truth Ministry ( a Christian ministry exclusively geared towards the LGBT Community and our fight for Equality) to add our voice to this battle for equality and I thank you for doing your part to COME OUT for our Rights :-) This is the message of my CD, which I wrote and recorded just for you, my LGBT family. "God loves you just the way you are and a non-biased accurate interpretation of the bible does confirm this. Lets bear in mind that the bible has wrongly been interpreted and used to promote slavery, to discriminate against women, and now its being misinterpreted to abuse and discriminate the LGBT community. The fact is that according to the Bible as stated in the Leviticus Holiness Codes, Homosexuality (Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13) is no more of an abomination than eating shrimp (Leviticus 11:9-11 with the word ABOMINATION used for eating shrimps in both verses 10 and 11), wearing mixed fabrics such as our popular cotton/polyester mix (Leviticus 19:19), or shaving one's facial hairs (Leviticus 19:27) and furthermore, Jesus, Peter and Paul all tell us that there is no longer Clean vs. Unclean foods (Acts 10:10-15 and Mark 7:14-23 and very importantly, in Acts 10:28, peter states "But God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean"). There is also no longer Gentile vs. Jew ( Galatians 3:28), neither is there Male vs. Female before God ( Galatians 3:28) as God's love is for EVERYONE, and I dare say, that means LGBT people included".....

With much love,

Rizi
